A note on our coffee…
At FLORENCE we use single origin specialty coffee (80+ points) to ensure the people at the source of what wakes you up every morning get their fair share too. To empower coffee producers, rather than exploit them, is our mission.
To demonstrate the diversity of coffee aromas, we try to stock a selection of naturals, anaerobic and washed coffees from different east African countries, the area in which we are working on further projects. We are also proud to say that most of FLORENCE coffee is hand-selected from farms we have personally visited and then roasted in house (well almost) by our dear friends at Mondo del Caffe in Echternach, Luxembourg. Our goal is to continue to build relationships with origin countries to shed light on the complexity of the coffee value chain in hopes that people will become more conscious about the way they consume coffee.
Fun fact: did you know that specialty coffee beans are collected individually — bean by bean - and pass through almost 20 sets of hands before they make it into your cup? Or that it takes approximately 75 red cherries to make one 18 gram espresso?!
